In an exciting partnership, UKHospitality and ITN Productions are producing a news and current affairs-style programme exploring our rapidly growing hospitality industry that is contributing immensely to the UK economy and hugely supporting employment of our future generations.

‘Together for the Future’ will bring to life the people working in hospitality who are championing the industry to grow sustainably and innovatively. New technologies, career progressing jobs and training are evolving in the sector and these have seen hospitality grow faster than any other industry since 2008 and become the third largest employer.

It is more important than ever that the hospitality industry has the support it needs and ‘Together for the Future’ will look at how government need to back this thriving industry. Despite challenging economic climates, the industry is growing year on year, but there are challenges that need addressing including the fact other industries have been given a form of tax relief, but hospitality hasn’t.

Drawing upon ITN’s 60 year heritage and expertise in storytelling, the news-style piece will be anchored by Natasha Kaplinsky to combine key interviews and reports with sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations.

‘Together for the Future’ will premiere at the UKHospitality Christmas Lunch on 20th December 2018. The programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring UKHospitality members, industry partners, government partners, as well as relevant journalists, writers and bloggers.

Kate Nicholls, Chief Executive, UK Hospitality, said: “Hospitality is at the heart of the UK providing the lifeblood to many communities across the UK, from coastal towns to big cities, contributing more than just an economical value. A value which stands at £130bn of economic activity and £38bn in tax receipts to the UK each year, and yet we are so often overlooked by Government.

“This programme will gather the thoughts from industry leaders and experts to provide a comprehensive picture of our commonalities, and highlight how when spoken with one voice, this can give our dynamic and indispensable industry the strength to resonate with Government.

“We are thrilled to be presenting this programme in partnership with ITN, whose rich history will help us amplify our voice and showcase just how integral hospitality is to the UK and its people.”

Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, said:We’re delighted to be partnering with UKHospitality to produce a programme exploring why the hospitality sector is so vital for our economy, productivity, employment and exports. At a time when hospitality is the fasting growing sector and the third largest employer, we hope this programme will bring to life the importance of why government support is so important. We’re excited to embark on the programme and engage with professionals throughout hospitality and beyond to tell that story. We hope the content can be used to share best practise, innovation and create ideas to shape a stable and secure future.”
