Supporting the industry

NEW UKH together with Scottish Licensed Trade Association, Scottish Retail Consortium and Scottish Tourism Alliance have sent a joint letter to Kate Forbes, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Scottish Government, asking for clarity on the £25,000 grants to help support hospitality businesses. UK GOVERNMENT

The UK Government is advising anyone who has travelled, or returned, to the UK form the affected areas since 19 February to immediately call NHS111 to inform them of your recent travel to the area and stay indoors and avoid contact with other people even if you do not have symptoms.

Business Rates 

 

Tax 

For those who are unable to pay due to Coronavirus, HMRC will discuss your specific circumstances to explore:
  • agreeing an instalment arrangement
  • suspending debt collection proceedings
  • cancelling penalties and interest where you have administrative difficulties contacting or paying HMRC immediately

The helpline number is 0800 0159 559 - and is an addition to other HMRC phone contact numbers. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, and Saturday 8am to 4pm. The helpline will not be available on Bank Holidays.

WHAT BUSINESSES CAN DO TO SUPPORT

The Government is collating a central booking system for hotels willing to take NHS staff and other key workers. To offer support, please let us know.

A petition calling for government action, is being circulated. This can be accessed here >

Government is asking for anyone wanting to offer Goods and Services Assistance, to fill out this survey.

VisitBritain/VisitEngland has modified and reopened their tracker survey, they will be conducting it regularly to monitor the impact on all aspects of the UK tourism industry.  The results will provide impact data to brief Ministers, the Government and COBR to help support the industry through these challenging times. Please circulate the survey to your members. The survey will close 17.00 Monday 30 March
