UKHospitality has led the way in championing policies that reflect the needs of the hospitality sector. As outlined in our Menu for Change, our key priorities for the sector are:

  • Unlocking potential for growth and investment in people
  • Reducing costs and rebalance tax and regulation
  • Empowering hospitality and tourism to fulfil its potential

Ahead of the election on 12th December it is critical that hospitality businesses engage with local candidates and impress on them the importance of the sector in their communities, and actions that can help us grow and support jobs and investment. This is likely to be the most significant election for the sector in generations.

To help members influence future policy, we have prepared a toolkit, which are listed below.

It is essential that we make the voice of the hospitality industry heard during this election.

Take Action

  • Template email/letter to PPC:  It is important to make candidates aware of the key issues for hospitality businesses going in to the election. We have prepared a template letter, running through the sector's key policy needs, while also inviting the candidate for a photo opportunity at your venue. • Template Press Release:  A press release has been prepared to allow you to convey your views to the local media. We are sure that you are aware of your local media, but there are many outlets listed here.

UKHospitality has developed a series of assets to help amplify our message.

  • Manifesto analysis: An analysis of all party manifestos and how they align with the UKH Menu for Change is available to read here

  • Infographic: The UKHospitality infographic outlines hospitality's value and contribution in a number of areas.

  • Pledge cards: Our pledge cards outline our key asks of Government and highlight our value in an easy to keep business card size. If you would like to receive printed versions of these, please email the team by clicking here

  • Support poster: You can download our A3 poster for the MP to hold and pledge their support to our industry at your photo op.

  • Template social media assets: This link provides a wide range of social media assets that you may wish to use to demonstrate your views on a tourist tax.

  • Dos and Don’ts List: There are tips for engaging with candidates during an election. The Dos and Don’ts lists outlines what these are.

  • Political Hustings Questions: Political hustings are taking place across the country, with candidates keen to make a good impression. We have drafted some questions that you can ask them about the hospitality sector.
