The cost of doing nothing: turning sustainability into savings
Our fifth annual Environmental Sustainability Seminar brought together industry leaders, sustainability experts, and policymakers to explore how sustainability can help hospitality businesses reduce operating costs while continuing to meet their environmental goals.
Chaired by our CEO, Allen Simpson, the day opened with reflections on the sector’s achievements, ongoing challenges, and our advocacy work with Government.
Sessions delved into practical ways to improve energy efficiency, invest in renewables and reduce emissions, alongside preparing for the incoming Deposit Return Scheme.
Sessions also explored how regenerative farming, food sourcing and tackling food waste can support more resilient and sustainable businesses.
Throughout the day, the focus was on sharing real-world examples and demonstrating how taking action on sustainability can deliver tangible savings and long-term benefits for the sector.
Our Sustainability Group, made up of experts from members across the sector, is essential to allow us to understand what challenges operators are facing and what they need to help them harness the opportunities that are out there, across England, Wales and Scotland.
