Holiday tax: member briefing

We remain opposed to the Government’s holiday tax. 

We believe it would add to the cost of families holidaying in England and those visiting and undermine the competitiveness of hospitality and the wider visitor economy.

Nevertheless, we have continued to engage constructively with officials to secure the least damaging possible approach if the Government proceeds. The legislation to bring forward the tax (Visitor Levy Bill) contains some marginal improvements since the consultation, but important questions and concerns remain.
