As part of the Government’s Youth Guarantee initiative, UKHospitality and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) are collaborating to ensure that every young person aged 16 to 24 has a pathway into employment, education, or training.
The Government is investing £2.5 billion over the next three years to support almost one million young people and create up to 500,000 jobs, training, and learning opportunities.
We believe there could be opportunities for suppliers across food and drink, logistics, property, facilities management, technology, and professional services to get involved through:
- Entry-level jobs and apprenticeships
- Work experience placements and industry insight days
- Mentoring and employability support
- Skills development and training initiatives
There are also several practical benefits available to participating employers, including:
- Fully funded apprenticeship training for eligible 16 to 24-year-olds at non-levy paying employers
- A £2,000 apprenticeship incentive for eligible young recruits from October 2026
- A £3,000 Youth Jobs Grant per eligible hire
- Government-funded Jobs Guarantee placements, with employment costs covered for eligible candidates
- Access to DWP recruitment support and employer engagement teams
We believe this is an opportunity for organisational leaders to make a conscious commitment to the hospitality sector’s collective ambition to create a responsible difference. By supporting the Youth Guarantee, your organisation can demonstrate leadership in helping young people access sustainable employment, education, and training opportunities, while contributing to the long-term success of our industry.
