The Employment Rights Act 2025 became law in December 2025. The Act extends the employment protections already given by many British companies to millions more workers across the country. Some reforms have already taken effect. In April 2026 rights to Statutory Sick Pay were strengthened, day one rights to Paternity Leave and Unpaid Parental Leave were introduced, and the Fair Work Agency was launched. Further measures will come into force over the next year, including trade union reforms and increased protections from sexual harassment in October 2026, and reductions to the qualifying period for protection from ‘ordinary’ unfair dismissal in January 2027.
Hear from the Department for Business, Innovation, Science & Trade and Acas on the most important developments employers need to be aware of now. This session will set out an overview of measures and help employers understand what steps to follow to be ready for the changes.
