New skills funding set to benefit hospitality

The Department for Education has launched a £165 million fund to develop skills and training, with further education providers able to apply for money from Local Skills Improvement Funds.

UKHospitality Skills Director Sandra Kelly said: “Additional funding to help training providers and colleges further invest in their skills and training is exactly the approach needed from Government.

“Hospitality has excellent examples of how close relationships between education providers and local employers can help plug skills gaps and this significant investment can help expand that even further to allow more people to pursue a career in hospitality.

“Through UKHospitality’s work with local authorities, the majority of Local Skills Improvement Plans include hospitality and puts the sector in a great position to benefit from this announcement.”
