Safety hub

The hospitality industry has a long-standing commitment to supporting the safety of their customers and staff alike in their venues.  Everyone deserves to feel relaxed, safe and secure when using or staying in hospitality venues.

However, when incidents do occur where someone is unsafe, we want to ensure they’re supported and looked after through every stage of their journey. We have collated industry led guidance to signpost how businesses can ensure customers can feel safe while socialising so that hospitality remains a place of security where people go to have fun and enjoy themselves.

Guest safety

UKHospitality accommodation CEOs and senior leaders have developed a set of principles and good practice guidance for the wider sector on guest safety and security in accommodation businesses.

Drink spiking

Everyone has a right to feel safe on a night out, and we, as the sector, prioritise their safety and welfare, doing everything we can to protect this right.

It is important businesses understand the resources available to them, so, alongside other industry representatives, we have pulled resources on drink spiking to one place and created an FAQ guide. This is viewed as an enhancement of existing work of safety and vulnerability training to ensure our venues remain the safest places to enjoy a night out.

Women safety

The hospitality industry is committed to supporting the safety of women and girls using our venues and safe socialising will always remain important to the sector.

UKHospitality is a member of the Mayor of London’s Women’s Night Safety Charter which aims at tackling violence against women and girls through an online toolkit, training of staff and a guide to ensure public spaces are accessible and designed with safety in mind.

If your business or organisation is interested in becoming a signatory of the Charter or would like to learn more about its work, please contact Sarah Walker

Nighttime safety

UKHospitality hosted a webinar on the Mayor of London’s Women’s Nighttime Safety Charter and the various platforms of support and training available to the hospitality sector to help create a safer environment for colleagues and customers. This covered upskilling staff at all levels in dealing with vulnerability training whilst supporting the implementation of policies and procedures through different initiatives available.

A hospitality sector vulnerability support toolkit is available providing all support information in one place.
