As part of our ongoing political engagement with all parties, we hosted a roundtable with our members, Soho hospitality businesses and the Leader of the Opposition, Kemi Badenoch.
We were also joined by Shadow Chancellor, Mel Stride and Shadow Business Secretary, Andrew Griffith.
A huge thank you to all of the businesses who joined us:
- Fuller, Smith & Turner
- Merlin Entertainments
- Elior
- McDonald’s
- Punch Pubs & Co
And to Sophie’s Steakhouse in Soho for hosting us and the Soho Business Alliance for supporting.
The group discussed everything from licensing and planning to NICs, VAT and business rates.
It was important for our members to share the reality of what their businesses face day-to-day and the action politicians can take to support the sector.
Our #TaxedOut campaign is continuing to drive the need for action at the Budget.
Find more on our #TaxedOut campaign hereThis meeting adds to others we’ve had over the past two weeks. We have met with the Chancellor, hosted a roundtable on business rates with Treasury ministers and businesses, and met with the new Food and Tourism Ministers. With many new Ministers in post, these meetings are critical.
As the trade body for hospitality, we will continue to have conversations with officials in every party and at every level to ensure hospitality is not #TaxedOut.
