New fund to boost tourism infrastructure welcomed by UKHospitality Cymru

A new £5m fund to help boost tourism and hospitality infrastructure across Wales was today welcomed by UKHospitality Cymru.

“We anticipate that this will lead to valuable improvements such as improved public toilet facilities, more signage and interpretation panels to help visitors, car parking facilities, electric vehicle charging points, and accessible changing facilities,” said UKHospitality Cymru Executive Director, David Chapman.

“It’s a very welcome addition to the hospitality and tourism offer and a really positive start for our new tourism policy lead, Deputy Minister Dawn Bowden MS.”

Brilliant Basics is a 2023-2025 capital fund to deliver small-scale tourism infrastructure improvements across Wales and is aimed at public, third sector and not for profit organisations. It will also support projects that improve accessibility at sites and those that make their destinations more environmentally sustainable.

“UKHospitality Cymru would urge all eligible organisations to get their planned improvements into Welsh Government by the closing date of March 16 to maximise visitor economy gains in the high season,” said Chapman.
