England
The Government has U-turned on previous assurances it gave the sector that it would not introduce a holiday tax in England, and has now committed to doing so. We estimate this could cost Brits travelling in the UK up to £518m in additional cost.
A consultation has been launched on the proposals, and we will be working with members on a response.

Scotland
In Scotland, where the ability to introduce a levy has been introduced, UKHospitality has been pivotal in securing business-friendly commitments. In Edinburgh, our campaigning led to a 2% cost recovery mechanism to be introduced, to help offset costs.

Wales
The Welsh Government has passed legislation that gives local authorities in Wales the ability to introduce a Visitor Levy, or ‘tourist tax’.
