Hospitality is Serving Britain sustainably — building a green future.

Our fourth annual Sustainability Seminar brought together industry leaders, sustainability experts, and policymakers to assess the sector’s progress on the journey to net zero.

Chaired by CEO, Allen Simpson, the day opened with reflections on the sector’s achievements, ongoing challenges, and our advocacy work with Government.

Key sessions explored differences in sustainability perceptions across consumers, professionals, and businesses; progress towards the 2040 net zero goal; and how sustainability is shifting from compliance to core strategy.

Panels addressed the balancing act between sustainability and nutrition, the reality of investing in green initiatives under financial pressure, and adapting to major packaging reforms. We also heard insights into property energy standards, EV infrastructure, and sustainable design in both new builds and retrofits.

The event closed with a reminder that there is no single solution – a holistic, multi-faceted approach is vital for the hospitality sector to build a truly sustainable future.

Our Sustainability Group, made up of experts from members across the sector, is essential to allow us to understand what challenges operators are facing and what they need to help them harness the opportunities that are out there, across England, Wales and Scotland.
