This week we were in Parliament launching our Budget asks with Parliamentarians.
MPs had the opportunity to hear firsthand from industry experts from UKHospitality and sector leaders from within our membership about the impact of the last Budget on businesses across the UK and in their constituency. UKHospitality presented on the economic damage following the 2024 Budget, including the loss of 69,000 jobs in the sector and highlighted the importance of hospitality as the most socially productive sector providing jobs for everyone everywhere and being an inclusive employer of 3.5 million people.
We also used this as an opportunity to introduce MPs to our key policy asks from targeted reform of business rates, fixing Employer NICs, and a reduction in VAT.
This event reinforces our #TaxedOut budget campaign and outlines how a fairer fiscal treatment can help deliver the Government’s ambitions for economic growth.
Listen to the Chair of the APPG for Hospitality and Tourism, Chris Webb MP’s comments on the event here.
Over 20 MPs attended to hear the concerns of the sector and learn about what they can do to urge the Chancellor to take a fundamentally different approach in this year’s Budget.
We’ll be spreading the message to MPs from across the House during recess through organising MP visits to our members in their constituency.
Thank you to our members McDonald’s, Merlin Entertainment, Fullers, Bidfood, Punch Pubs and IHG Hotels, for taking the time to make the case to Government that hospitality business are being #TaxedOut of business.
We want you, as our members, to be front and centre of these visits. Find out more about how you get involved here.
