First Hospitality Skills pilot graduation in Wales

The first Hospitality Skills pilot graduation in Wales took place at the Principality Stadium.

The Cardiff pilot, run jointly by UKHospitality and training provider Cambrian Training is backed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and provided tailored training to jobseekers, with a view to starting a career in hospitality.

A huge thank you to our employers, Brewhouse & Kitchen, Compass Cymru and Greene King, who all supported the pathway by providing training facilities and work placements.

Further employer engagement was site visits, masterclass sessions, guest speakers, work experience and mock and real interviews.

Minister for Employment Jo Churchill MP addressed the graduation.

You have received solid training so you can take those skills out into the work place.

You can be whatever you want to be in this industry, it is vast. This is a job for life, but no necessarily the same job. That is what is great about the industry.

These pilots have been fantastically run. We want to roll hospitality passports out across the industry.

You have helped other people to start their journey into work.

UKHospitality and DWP have partnered together to run Hospitality Skills Pilots across the country.

Currently in its pilot stage, successful schemes have already taken place in London, Liverpool, Manchester and Coventry.

The programme culminates in a guaranteed job interview for all participants.

The scheme aims to:

  1. 1

Upskill and match jobseekers with hospitality roles.

  2. 2

Offer fast-tracked training and work experience, enabling participants to earn an industry-recognised ‘Hospitality Skills Passport’.
