Women’s World Cup final delivers 33% boost in drinks sales

According to CGA Insight, the Lionesses playing in the Women’s World Cup final saw a 33% boost to drink sales.

Economic boost

The huge interest in the final was predicted to drive up to £41 million in extra sales and see an additional 1 million visitors to hospitality. The initial figures from CGA Insight indicate that the final delivered the economic boost expected.

Our Chief Executive Kate Nicholls said: “Massive congratulations to the Lionesses – what a fantastic achievement to reach the World Cup final. The entire nation was rooting them on, with millions watching from their local pub or bar.

Venues made a huge effort for the Women’s World Cup and that went even further on the day of the final, which led to a boost for hospitality businesses.

“The best way to watch sport is down the pub, so it was fantastic to see everyone turn out in their droves to support the Lionesses.”
